Stephen is the Vicar and Team Leader at Ascension.

We can think of Stephen's role partly as painting a picture - capturing some vision from the Spirit of God, then sketching it out for people so they can visualise it for themselves and hopefully paint themselves into it. Stephen has led this church and painted our vision for the last 11 years, and it's something he loves.

He loves many things, actually: his friends and family, music, theatre, good food and wine, and this great city of London where everything is on our doorstep, and the whole world lives within miles of each other.

Because we're blessed in the UK with a huge array of Christian resources and training opportunities, and those in many other places are not, Stephen spends up to 25% of his time outside the parish, speaking and giving training to church leaders in Nepal, Kenya, DR Congo and other places where God directs.

The other 75% of his time Stephen spends at Ascension. The leadership at this church is shared among elders, staff and PCC, so that each of us can focus on what we are best at and most passionate about. His role in the team is threefold:

- Casting vision and helping us formulate strategy
- Developing leaders to fly in their God-given gifts
- Teaching and preaching
