Dorothy is one of the Honorary Curates. She has been at the Ascension for forty years and been ordained for 10 years.

Dorothy's main role here is at the 9.30 service - a traditional Anglican service with liturgy and organ music. She preaches and celebrates Communion, but to get to that stage lots of work has to be done behind the scenes too. The Church of England is grounded in the Holy Scriptures, the Creeds and the two Sacraments; the liturgy reflects that as well as the season of the year (Advent, Lent, Easter and Ordinary Time). Dorothy prepares the service to incorporate this.

Along with Peter Houghton, Dorothy sees to the pastoral care for the older congregation. She also does home visits and Communion for the housebound.

She has a Chaplain role to Minnie Kidd House - an NHS Continuing Care Home. Most of the residents are between 80% and 100% dependent. Her role there is to give spiritual and pastoral support to the residents, staff and family who ask for it.

Dorothy's 'secular job' is with The Anglican Consultative Council, which is a representative of bishops, clergy and laity of the Anglican Church across the world. She works in the Finance Department, which enables her to communicate with people across the Communion.
