A couple of weeks ago about 100 of us travelled down to Brands Hatch in Kent for our weekend away.

This year we were privileged to have world renowned speaker and author Michael Green and his wife Rosemary with us as our speakers for the weekend. Michael and Rosemary each brought us their different perspectives challenging and encouraging us to focus again on Jesus, who he is, his cross and what he asks of his followers.

For many of us the time away from London and the usual routine gave us space to worship and to reflect on Jesus in a deeper way than normal life usually allows.

But the weekend also gave us a chance to have fun and relax together, over coffee, on an afternoon walk and culminating int the hard fought pub quiz with its Fererro Rocher challenge (Who was it that managed to eat 5? !!!)

We may have awoken to snow on Sunday morning but that didn't stop us having a great final day and if you weren't there to see Rambo the Sheep assist Kate with an All Age talk at our closing session then you missed a treat!

Many peopel have told me that was the best Church Weekend yet - don't miss your chance to book when the next one comes around!

Having joined Ascension only four months ago, the Church Weekend Away was a fantastic opportunity to get to know a diverse range of people from across the three congregations. There were great opportunities to deepen relationships over good food, in teaching sessions and at the infamous Ascension Quiznight, and now we feel a real part of the Ascension family.
