Imagine what, with God's help and our best prayers and endeavour, could be accomplished in five years! And having imagined, join with us in being part of the team that sees it all happen.
In 2013, Ascension will be a prayer-filled church. We will gather regularly to draw close to God and be infected with His vision for our world. We will look for signs of God's kingdom and in Jesus' name we will heal the sick. We will be attentive and disciplined in seeking God's guidance and revelation.
We will be wholehearted in our praise and worship of God and will encounter Him more deeply in new and diverse ways. Each of us will be grounded in God's word through personal daily Bible reading and reflection.
In 2013, most Ascension members will belong to a small group, building friendships and encouraging one another in life and faith. We will celebrate together in worship and social events, enjoying our diversity. The material needs of everyone in our congregation will be met.
We will hold special women's and men's events for teaching and support as we seek to live as women and men of God. Our children and young people will be actively involved in ministry and growing in faith.
In 2013, we will be living an evangelistic lifestyle with each member of Ascension playing a part in seeing non-Christians come to faith. We will share the love of God in practical ways, offering people outside the church an experience of community they don't find elsewhere. We will work closely with other local churches and be a catalyst drawing local Christians together in ministry and prayer.
In 2013, Ascension will be a vibrant learning community that equips and releases leaders to serve the global church. We will offer a programme of leadership development involving at least 100 emerging leaders from Ascension and beyond.
In 2013, Ascension will be a church of multiple congregations with a pioneering church planting strategy. We will have sent out two teams to plant or graft into other parishes, enabling them to grow into thriving churches in their own right. We will have planted several micro-congregations and missional communities exploring new and creative ways of being church within our own parish.
