What does ADAM do?
ADAM is a ministry of Ascension Church in Balham Hill, which seeks to help people who have any kind of concerns about their finances. The way in which we do this is by helping you to prepare a budget (i.e. a detailed analysis of your income and outgoings). This enables you to see what your current position is. Depending on whether you have an existing debt problem, we may then discuss possible ways of increasing your income or reducing your outgoings, or may refer you to a specialist debt counselling service for further advice. If we refer you to another service, we will offer further support to you during this process.

What happens if I contact ADAM?
Someone will call or e-mail you back, will explain briefly what ADAM is able to do and will then make an appointment to meet with you. We generally have two meetings: a preliminary meeting to help us understand why you are looking for help and for us to explain to you more about the budgeting process, followed by a longer meeting at which we will sit down with you to help you to prepare a budget. Once we have done this, we can discuss what additional support you may want.

Can I get involved in helping people with money worries?
Yes, please! If you contact us by phone or e-mail expressing your interest, we will let you know how you can get involved.
We offer free training as “personal budget coaches”, which will allow you to help someone to prepare a budget and offer suggestions to help them manage their money better.
